I've decided to use Theme weeks with Brody. Our first week is the Butterfly. We started the week by catching a butterfly with a net and putting it into a butterfly house. We then soaked a cotton ball with sugar water. We took a magnifying glass and watched the butterfly uncoil its proboscis and drink the water. I explained that the butterfly is using its proboscis like a straw. We then pointed to the major parts of the butterfly; the wing, legs, head, and antenna. We then used our fine motor skills to paint two drawn pictures of a butterfly. Once dried, we glued to two sides with a craft stick in between. We also added a black pipe cleaner for the antenna. Throughout the week, I reinforced that part of the butterfly and used the word "antenna" as our weeks vocabulary word.
