Row Row Row Your Boat

For a gross motor skills activity this week, we created a sail boat with boxes we picked up from the local grocery store and painted with spray paint we had on hand. The mast is made of a cardboard tube and the sail from old, white cloth. We played for nearly the whole afternoon with our boat, using makeshift oars to "row" our boat, climbing in and out, and singing "Row Row Row Your Boat". In this picture, I've asked Brody to show me the sail. Sail is our vocabulary word this week, and I used it several times, as a noun, and a verb. As we played, I would say such things as: "Where do we want to sail to, Brody?" , "Let's set sail!" , "We're sailing away!" , and "Let's sail to an island with buried treasure!" At that point, we would jump out and run around, grabbing "treasure" to bring back to our boat. It was a fun activity and craft that made for an adventurous and fun afternoon!
